Overview information of the fields under development

JV Kazgermunai LLP has 6 separate oil, gas and condensate fields on its balance sheet, including Akshabulak Central, Akshabulak East, Akshabulak South, Nuraly, Aksai and Aksai South (gas-condensate).

The scope of activity of JV Kazgermunai LLP is exploration, development, production and marketing of hydrocarbon raw materials.

The depletion of recoverable reserves at the moment is 78%, with the approved recovery index (ORI-oil recovery index) - 53%.

At the moment, projects are being developed to increase the production capacity of the company aimed at increasing oil recovery and oil recovery coefficient for the field of "JV "Kazgermunai"LLP.

From year to year, the bar (planch) of the company's production indicators rose higher and higher. Thus, in 2009, the production of hydrocarbons reached a maximum level of 3,202 million tons. Over the past nine years, the Company has consistently held the bar for oil production at the level of 3.0 million tons per year, which allows JV Kazgermunai LLP to be among the largest oil producing companies in the Kyzylorda region and enter the top ten major oil producing companies in the Republic of Kazakhstan

Akshabulak Central Oilfield

The oil field was discovered in 1989 as a result of drilling of exploratory well No. 7. It is located 75 km south of the large Kumkol field and covers an area of 235 square kilometers. This is the largest field of JV Kazgermunai LLP in terms of oil reserves and production volume. The field has been developed since October 1996.

Akshabulak East Oilfield

It was discovered in 1989 by drilling well No. 2.

It is located 10 km north-east of the Akshabulak Central field. The eastern part of the field is being developed by “Souts Oil” LLP. The field has been developed since October 1999.

Akshabulak South Oilfield

It was discovered in 1989 by drilling well No. 3.

The oil field is directly adjacent to the developed Akshabulak Central field from the south. The field has been developed since December 2004.

Nuraly Oilfield

The Nuraly structure was discovered in 1983.

The structure is located 35 km northwest of the Akshabulak field and covers an area of 350 square kilometers.

This is the second field of JV Kazgermunai LLP in terms of reserves and production volume. Oil was first discovered in 1987, and production began in June 1996.

Aksai Oilfield

The Aksai gas and oil field was discovered in 1988.

It is located 25 km west of the Akshabulak field and covers an area of 296 square kilometers. The field has been developed since 1998.

The Aksai South

In 2016, work was carried out on the division and separation of the Aksai field into independent structures, in connection with which the reserves of hydrocarbon raw materials were calculated separately for the Aksai and Aksai South fields.

The development of the Aksai South field, already as an independent field, began in 2017.

Production technology

Oil and gas production is carried out in a fountain and mechanized way. The operating fund of producing wells is 219 wells, including 16 flowing wells, 187 wells of the ESP fund, 12 wells of the horse head pump fund, 4 wells of the plunger lift technology.

The collecting system and transporting oil well products consists of facilities that include equipment, pipelines, shut-off and control valves designed for collecting and transporting products from wells to oil and gas treatment and transportation facilities. Basic technological scheme of the collection in JV Kazgermunai as follows: the producing wells (wellhead platform) - fllow line of fiberglass tubing with a diameter of 3", 4" inches (depending on debit characteristics wells) - automated group metering station (AGMs) - buildable collector of fiberglass tubing with a diameter of 6", 8"inch - inlet manifold object field processing facilities. In some areas, to reduce the pressure in the collection system, group installations are used for gas separation and separate transportation of liquid and associated gas to oil and gas treatment facilities.

At the Nuraly field, to reduce the pressure in the gathering system, booster pumping stations with multiphase pumps are used to pump production from wells in the lines/directions of oil and gas treatment facilities. All production wells are equipped with a telemechanics system with the installation of the necessary sensors and wireless data transmission is implemented. In real time, parameters from the wellhead, including downhole subsurface pumping equipment to the control station are transmitted to the dispatch center/control room (and to the monitors of engineer -technologists). The wellhead of flowing wells are equipped with shut-off valves, the control stations for artlift wells are equipped with electric contact pressure gauges, in the case of a change in pressure on the flow line from a given range of production are automatically shut-in.

Well productions using infield oil gathering system goes to the CPF in order to prepare oil to a commercial condition with subsequent supply to the system of main oil pipelines of KazTransOil JSC.

Associated petroleum gas, separated at various stages of oil degassing, goes through gas pipelines to the gas treatment plant where dry and liquefied gas are produced for further sale to Consumers. The process of oil preparation is carried out by thermochemical method, demulsifier adding, heating, first-second-end separation stages, and sediment in tanks.

The technological process is characterized by the continuity, completeness of the technological cycle. The whole technological complex is implemented on the basis of building - technological blocks, equipped with devices of control and regulation and automation systems which are part of the general automatic control system of the CPF.

The treated dry commercial gas from gas treatment plants is suppled:

  1. For own process requirements;
  2. On alienation of the Nacional Operator KazTransGas JSC;
  3. Liquefied gas is supplied to the storage area and transportation of LPG and then is selling to the Consumers;

Group pumping /water injection station (BKNS) is a complex of technological equipment necessary for the preparation, transportation, injection of a working agent into the reservoir in order to maintain reservoir pressure and achieve maximum oil production rates from the reservoir. The facility consist of the reservoir tank storage for temporary storage of sewage water with drain line of an oil film, booster pumps area, for high-pressure injection pumps area, water flow metering unit, discharge manifold, water distribution point (WDP) with shut-off and control valves and pressure measuring devices, temperature and water flow rate. From the WDP there is a bifurcation of injection lines with diameter of 4 "inches (fiberglass pipeline) connected to the riser of the wellhead manifold of injection wells. In order to avoid the growth of bacteria in the reservoir, bactericide chemical reagent is added to the sewage water injected into the formation/reservoir that used to control aerobic and sulfate-reducing bacteria. Inhibition is also carried out in order to reduce the corrosion rate of the area where is working process and reduce the aggressive action on the production facilities and pipelines of the reservoir pressure maintenance system.

Automation of technological processes.

Technological process control at production wells is carried out using measuring instruments installed at the wellhead (pipe, annular pressure, flow line pressure and temperature). Additionally, technical electro-contact gauges and thermometers were installed at the well. Control stations are installed on all artlift ESP wells stock. The system under the control of SIEMENS controllers transmits the necessary data from all wells online, including flowing and SRP wells to the dispatch control room (situation center at the Akshabulak field).

The liquid- gas mixture of production wells from flowlines goes to AGMU OZNA-MASSOMER (mass meter) to measure the flow rate of well production. All AGMU are equipped with high-precision Coriolis flowmeters for fluid and gas, water cut is measured by full-range in-flow moister meter. All data from the AGMU are also sent online to the control center.

Further, the liquid- gas mixture goes to the CPF oil and gas, which includes technological equipment: separators, heaters, compressors, pumps, etc. Each technological unit is equipped with the necessary measuring instruments: phase separation level gauges, flowmeters and other necessary sensors for monitoring technological parameters, as well as actuation mechanisms (control valves, etc.). Metering unit for end-products: commercial oil, dry commercial gas and LPG are carried out at specialized metering stations equipped with the necessary flowmeters with high accuracy.

All facilities are controlled by SIEMENS SIMATIC S7-400 programmable logic controllers, with remote STAHL and SIEMENS input-output stations.

The BKNS control system is also constructed on the basis of SIEMENS S7-400 controllers. With the help of field equipment (pressure, temperature, vibration, position gauges), electrical actuation mechanisms (valves), installed programs and technological units the pumping units are monitoring and controlling. Water metering is carried out for each injection well using electromagnetic flowmeters.

At the top level, for the automation of monitoring and control of the technological process in real time, the SCADA system SIEMENS WinCC is used at all production facilities.
