KazMunaiGas and CNPC intensify geological exploration to replenish hydrocarbon reserves in the Kyzylorda region
29 october 2024
In Kyzylorda on 28-29 October held the II technical seminar on the prospects of geological exploration and enhanced oil recovery at the fields. The event was attended by Nurlybek Nalibayev, Akim of Kyzylorda region, Askhat Hasenov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas, Kudaibergen Arymbek, Vice Minister of Energy, Zhang Daowei, Deputy General Director of Chinese oil and gas corporation CNPC, He Wenyuan, General Director of CNODC and leading industry experts.
Kyzylorda region was chosen as the place to discuss oil and gas industry issues because oil production in the region continues to decline due to depletion of reserves at major fields.
In order to expand geological exploration, explore new territories, replenish oil reserves and introduce innovative technologies, KMG is intensifying its work with one of the main partners – the Chinese oil and gas corporation CNPC in the region.
In order to discover new fields, it is necessary to expand the horizons of geological exploration, including in poorly explored basins such as North Torgai, Shu-Sarysu and Syrdarya basins.
On the seminar site, the akimat of Kyzylorda region, the Ministry of Energy and JV Kazgermunai LLP concluded a memorandum on the implementation of an investment project aimed at the socio-economic development of the region.
Under the memorandum, it is planned to process crude gas from other fields at the gas treatment units of JV Kazgermunai LLP, which will increase the volume of liquefied petroleum gas supplies to the domestic market.
This co-operation will help to attract investment in the gas industry, ensure stable supplies of liquefied petroleum gas to Kyzylorda region, save jobs and increase tax revenues to the regional budget.
On the second day of the seminar, CNPC representatives visited the Turgai Paleozoic area, where KMG started drilling a deep well at 5,500 metres, and the Akshabulak field.
