KMG Chairman of the Management Board reviewed the production capacities development in Kazgermunai

05 may 2026

During the working visit to the Kyzylorda Region, Askhat Khassenov - Chairman of the Management Board, JSC NC KazMunayGas visited the Kazgermunai fields and inspected the implementation of key projects progress.

In a view of the high degree of reserves depletion in 89%, KGM is actively conducting additional exploration at the Akshabulak and Nuraly fields. During the course it’s proceeding with new potentially oil-bearing areas survey, including research in the North Turgai sedimentary basin and the study of geological exploration data on the Aral Basin.

To keep oil production level maintenance at the old fields, KGM implements a set of geological and technical measures, including hydraulic fracturing of formation and conformance control.

KMG Chairman of the Management Board inspected the gathering systems, delivery and treatment of crude gas facilities as well as reviewed the technological processes and plans for further production capacities development at the Aksai Southern, Nuraly and Akshabulak fields. As is recognized, KGM has an operating infrastructure for the preparation of commercial and liquefied petroleum gas. Presently, continue the operations of connection to Gas Treatment Plants with inlet crude gas capacity of 580 million m3 per year for the third-party Subsurface Users. The implementation of this project allows local Companies to resolve the problem of associated petroleum gas utilization without high-price a gas treatment processing plants construction and relieve restrictions on increasing oil production.

Processing of associated petroleum gas has already been provided from the Khairkeldi (KazPetrolGroup) and North-West Konys (Galaz and Co.) fields. Additionally, gas from the Tuzkol field (Tuzkol Munai Gas Operating) is entrainment in the processing. The total accumulative remaining recoverable gas reserves of these assets is in the amount of 2.4 billion m3.  Negotiations is being hold with other Subsurface Users in the Region in order to join and procced with connecting the processing facilities at the Akshabulak field.

Furthermore, A. Khassenov reviewed the modernization project for gas treatment and transportation facilities, where modern technologies will be introduced. Its implementation will ensure an increase in the liquefied gas production to an additional 20 thousand tons per year and reduce the energy consumption of compressors by 20% due to the installation of additional heat exchangers.

During the production meeting, the results of KGM's activities were presented, as well as is taking measures to improve operational efficiency. In 2026, Company’s for 4 months, oil production amounted to almost 278 thousand tons, gas production — 81.5 million m3.

Particularly concerning the digitalization, the Company has implemented a system of electronic work permits to improve industrial safety. The “Mobile Inspection Controller” pilot project has been started to reduce the risk of accidents and incidents by timely identifying dangerous equipment conditions. To maintain the level of oil and gas production, a project is being implemented on the ABAI platform using AI.

Additionally, the Company develops a culture of innovation by involving employees in the process of improving operational efficiency. In 2025, 60 proposals were submitted, 24 whereof were approved.

Following the meeting, A. Khassenov instructed to continue operation on expanding the resource base, improving operational efficiency and further digitalization.
