SPE Kyzylorda Section Technological Day 2

Today Bastau business center, at KGM’s support, hosted SPE Kyzylorda Section Technological Day 2 (Society of Petroleum Engineers). This event is a platform for local and regional experts to discuss topics related to maintaining and promoting technological achievements designed to increase crude oil recovery and stabilize production, and local development.
The heads of local oil and gas companies, representatives of Regional Subsoil Use Administration, lecturers and students of local universities, and mass media attended. Organizational work was done by KGM Young Professionals.
As commented by Medet Karim, KGM First Deputy Director General: “Such event is an important platform to exchange knowledge and discuss major challenges of the industry. Thus, our company has supported SPE Kyzylorda Section Technological Day 2. It should be noted that our local section was established in the beginning of this year, and as of now its members have been intensively exchanging professional experience, bringing up industry-actual problems, discussing application of state-of-the-art drilling technologies, for example, lateral drilling, as well as advanced digital technologies”.
The event was started with the welcoming speech of Adil Mukanov, Chairman, SPE Kyzylorda Section, Group Manager of Oil & Gas Field Development Department, JSC PetroKazakhstan Kumkol Resources, and Medet Karim, KGM First Deputy Director General.
The main course of the Section included reports by Medet Karim: ‘Strategical Development of an Oil & Gas Company”; Saltanat Ismagulova, Geophysical Engineer, Schlumberger: ‘Estimation of Prospect Areas by Simulation of Oil & Gas Bearing Systems’; Akimzhan Lukpanov, Head of KGM Field Simulation Department: ‘Drilling and Development of Horizontal Wells Using State-of-the-Art Technologies’; and Alexander Timoshenko, Director – Regional Representative for Simulation, Rock Flow Dynamics: ‘Automated Adaptation and Estimation of Uncertainties during Geological-Hydrodynamic Field Simulation’. The reports were discussed in ‘question-answer’ manner.
Upon completion of the Section, a business lunch was served for the participants where they continued to forge informal communications with each other and to exchange opinions concerning the reports and further functioning of the local SPE Section.
